VIBE: Love this place.

Oakland’s Uptown district has become a restaurant destination. Nearly two years ago, chef Sarah Kirnon of San Francisco’s Front Porch added a touch of Barbados to the neighborhood.
This pretty, 70-seat restaurant and lounge may seem as if it’s all about the Caribbean-Creole dishes, but it would be a big mistake to ignore the cocktails. Don’t get me wrong: The food is serious, a sort of ode to Kirnon’s grandmother and great-grandmother, who cooked on the island’s plantations. But nothing sets the scene and helps whisk one away to the Caribbean like a great rum punch.
