Michael DeFlorimonte, Principal | Marketing & Client Relations

Insightful. Passionate. Collaborative.

Michael is a marketing professional with more than 20 years of marketing, strategic planning and brand management experience. Most recently, he served as Chief Marketing Officer for the Rock Church in San Diego, one of the top 20 (14,500 weekly churchgoers) churches in the country, where he oversaw the megachurch’s marketing, creative services, web development, data management, distribution, public relations and advertising departments.

Over the years he has also provided consulting services for a number of industries, including financial services, which led to a position as a Vice President of Charles Schwab and Co., Inc. where he developed and directed their nationwide African American Investor Services group. This included the development and execution of the firm’s integrated marketing, communications and brand strategy targeting the affluent African American investor.

A variety of consulting experiences in both mass and emerging markets, including electronic media, real estate, travel, construction, arts/culture, consumer products, faith-based, health/wellness, and financial services have also given Michael a uniquely broad market perspective and diversity of experience, leading to keen insights and brand management skills.

Michael is active with cultural and business organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area. He founded the African American Employee Network (AAEN) where he serves on the Executive Leadership Team, is a former Board Member of the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (Vice President and Chair, Marketing Committee), and is currently an advisor to SF|Noir and the Museum of the African Diaspora.  He also has been recognized for his business expertise through a number of media appearances on major network and cable news programs, and in major national news publications.

He is an alumnus of Stanford University’s School of Engineering, and although not pursued (not his brightest career decision!), was admitted to the MBA program at Harvard Business School. [case study][case study]
